Financial Crime Risk aligns current activities within Global Risk and helps to build these into a more integrated framework to conduct Customer Due Diligence which enables HSBC to manage financial crime risk more effectively. It builds stronger controls to improve the way Financial Crime Compliance risks are managed in order to spot gaps as well as trends so that the team can take action. It proactively gathers and analyses financial intelligence in a smart way so that suspicious transactions, activities or connections can be identified and we can adequately protect our customers from the threat of financial crime. Financial Crime (FC) is a sub-function of the Risk and Compliance function. The purpose of the role within FC is to execute second-line responsibilities with regards to managing financial crime risk. It achieves this by: setting risk appetite and writing policy; providing advice on financial crime risk matters to the first line of defense and providing oversight over financial crime risks.



We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join this team in the role of Senior Manager, Financial Crime, Wholesale Banking & Global Banking, Compliance.



In this role, you will:

• Develop and continuously review for appropriateness of control framework to monitor financial crime developments impacting Wholesale Banking (WSB) and Global Banking (GB)

• Proactively identify financial crime risk within the client portfolio and potential impacts on WSB/ GB

• Collaborate with WSB/ GB to resolve any/ all identified issues promptly and assessing risks, appropriateness of actions and extent of remediation work.

• Support the local implementation plans to quantify impacts and implement actions to address, manage and mitigate impacts of regulatory changes on WSB/ GB.

• Support the development and implementation as required in Anti Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF), Counter Proliferation, Anti-Bribery &Corruption, Fraud risk and Sanctions policies and systems that ensure that GB/ WSB exposure to financial crime and reputational risks is managed.

• Forge and manage effective relationship with stakeholders across the bank and assume ownership of end-to-end financial crime risk management for WSB and GB. Among others, this will include appropriate coordination with FC team members to support the business.

• Maintain and observe all HSBC control standards and implement and observe the Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators.

• Maintain awareness of operational risk within assigned portfolio and minimize the likelihood of it occurring including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting



To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

• Graduation from a reputed university preferably from business background

• Extensive experience in financial crime risk related roles will be given preference

• Robust knowledge of AML, CTF, AB&C, Fraud risk and Sanctions, and application to relevant lines of business

• Proven ability to manage multiple issues and priorities and demonstrated judgment and poise in challenging circumstances

• Strong attention to detail and well-organised; ability to prioritise, multi-task and work well under pressure.

• Ability to think strategically and have vision while also focusing on the details and execution.

• Ability to analyse information and identify potential areas of concern that are fact based
